Holiday at Pythouse Barn
Holiday in a stone barn conversion in the courtyard garden of Art Marine HQ.
Peacefully located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the borders of Wiltshire and Dorset, this is a stunning barn conversion decorated and furnished in a contemporary style with light, uncluttered living spaces and incorporating the latest ecologically friendly underfloor heating system.
The surrounding area boasts some of the finest countryside in southern England, offering marvellous walking and riding across rolling chalk grassland and ancient woodland, which supports a rich diversity of wildlife. Unspoilt country villages with stone and thatch cottages blend harmoniously into this landscape, many of them with excellent country pubs and restaurants. Visitor attractions in this area are numerous – the Saxon hilltop town of Shaftesbury and Old Wardour Castle are both 10 minutes away and the cathedral city of Salisbury about half an hour. Bath, Stourhead, Longleat, Stonehenge and the World Heritage Dorset coastline are all reachable in an hour or less.
Pythouse Barn stands in the owners’ grounds overlooking a large garden. Natural materials are a feature of the barn - original stone walling, seagrass matting, flagstone and oak floors are in evidence throughout the accommodation and the walls are hung with impressive and highly decorative contemporary art, in which the owners, who run their own gallery, are specialists. Facilities include wireless Broadband, ‘FreeSat’, high-definition TV and an Ipod docking station.
Pythouse Barn has been given four stars with Gold Award by Visit Britain, the National tourism agency. (November 2011)
Pythouse Walled Garden and Cafe is a few minutes' walk, with a cafe doing excellent breakfasts and lunches and a shop selling local produce.
