Big Class, 1930 - Steven Dews

This painting depicts some stunning Big Class yachts. These yachts were reserved for a wealthy elite of yachtsmen and used to compete with the best sailing talents. 

 

By 1932, the era of the 'Big Class' yachts was drawing to a close as the American 'J' Class rule was gradually introduced. Led by Astra, the leading yachts of the time reduced their canvas sizes to bring themselves also into line with the new American rules.
