At about noon on 26th October 1805, in the teeth of the mighty storm that followed the Battle, Lt. Lapenotiere returns from the frigate Euryalus to the fast schooner Pickle, carrying the famous dispatches, with orders to carry them to the Admiralty in London with the utmost speed. Lapenotiere was eventually made Commander and awarded £500 for this service.

The buyer of this superb painting received a complimentary copy of Peter Hore's definitive study of the Pickle's epic dash - "News of Nelson".
