She Sails like a Bird – Hermione bound for Boston, April 1780- Jenny Morgan RSMA

The French frigate "Hermione" in full sail, bound for Boston in support of the American Revolution. She was carrying the dashing general LaFayette and the news of French support for Washington: 5 frigates and 5,500 men.  LaFayette remarked of the frigate: "She sails like a bird..."

A full-scale replica of Hermione has been built at Rochfort in France and will re-create the epic voyage in 2015.

This painting was commissioned by Art Marine for the Friends of Hermione- Lafayette in America, to celebrate the forthcoming 2015 voyage.  We will donate a percentage of the profit on the sale of this print to the Hermione Project.
