 "The last I ever saw of her..."

Oil on canvas, 24 x 30 inches, commissioned by Art Marine for a UK client whose grandfather was First Mate aboard the Glenogil when she was wrecked on the coast of Chile on the 9th October 1916.

The client's grandfather is the figure in the bow of the foreground boat, who looks back and later writes;
‘What a tragic picture she did make stuck there with all her canvas set with dark ugly looking rocks for a background in the grey of the morning. Sure it was a sight to cut a sailor to the heart. It was the last I ever saw of her and a better ship never sailed the seas. …..
Upon viewing the finished painting, the Client wrote:
"Working with you and Jenny has been a most worthwhile and rewarding experience. As you well know I had a lot to learn, talking to you both added so much personal value to the end result. I will never forget how grandfather’s words and his eloquent description of the last time he ever saw his old Glenogil have been brought so movingly to light. You guided me toward a most remarkable marine artist. Thank you. "
