General Washington's Wolfpack: Continental Army schooners raiding British supply ships off Cape Cod, March 1776 - Geoff Hunt

This image depicts schooners leased by the Continental Army, several only 60 feet long and armed with small cannon. Manned by sea-minded soldiers, these schooners attacked British supply ships off Boston and even captured a longed-for powder ship. Their career lasted until 1777 when, with the help of the French fleet, the Continental Navy was created and larger ships could finally head out to sea.
